ANNIHILATION
I’m Just A Poem
I’m just a poem
Glowing in the filaments
Going home
Grown from the umbilicus
Hollow bones
A clay instrument
Love is the promised land
Come in from wilderness
If time
Were measured
By the desert sand
It still would vanish
And slip through your hands
Eventually
It would all go
As planned
Make your peace
And see
If you can make it last
The spirit lives forever
While the body turns to ash
Every good deed
Is a seed that we plant
Know that you will see it
Nothing’s lost on that
Nothing else you take with you
Not a backpack
Seeking forgiveness
‘Cause I always backtrack
Needing healing from the sap
Trying to seal the cracks
Loss along the way
Waving flag at half mast
Still sailing
Still baking
In the rays…
