NEARNESS

Echoes at Your Door

Alone, facing the darkness of my soul,
I call upon You with all my being—
Save me, save me.

Alone, facing the bitterness of the past,
Facing the weight of sin,
I have no one but You—
Save me, save me.

Alone, I knock upon Your door,
My darkness kills me,
My darkness torments me.

Alone, until my final breath fades,
Alone, until You light my grave with Your light,
And the sun of Your beauty breaks forth in my eyes.

I awoke from my heedlessness and denial,
And I knew—
I was never truly alone.
